BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Whatcom County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Bellingham couple after the man allegedly raped his wife’s teen daughter over a four year period with the mother’s knowledge.
The Sheriff’s Department says in a statement that 35-year-old Damian Johnston began having sexual intercourse with his stepdaughter in 2015 when she was 13 and the assaults continued into this year.
The statement says 31-year-old Kristi Johnston knew of and allowed the assaults on her daughter to happen, and sometimes took part in them.
Deputies arrested the couple just after midnight on Tuesday, July 23, and say both suspects admitted to the assaults on the girl.
They face charges of Rape of a Child and Incest.
