NEWHALEM, Wash. — A draft plan that would restore the grizzly bear population in the North Cascades is up for public comment again.
There was an open comment period on this plan from the National Park Service and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service from January to April 2017.
The agencies have reopened the public comment period for the next 90 days and they say all comments made in the previous period will be considered.
The draft plan evaluates the impacts of a range of approaches for determining how to restore the grizzly bear to the North Cascades Ecosystem, part of its historical range.
The goal is to reach a population of 200 bears.
