MOUNT VERNON, Wash. — The Mount Vernon officer left blind after a gunshot wound to the head testified Friday against the man accused of shooting him.

KOMO reports Michael McClaughry told prosecutors he couldn’t remember the shootout but remembered afterward seeing lights, hearing people talking and trying to stay warm.

Ernesto Rivas, whose trial was delayed 14 times since the December 2016 shooting, is accused in the incident.
