SEATTLE, Wash. (AP) — A tentative contract deal was reached between Seattle Public Schools and the teachers union.

The Seattle Times reports the two sides agreed to a draft of the contract Saturday evening.

The general membership of the teachers union, the Seattle Education Association, is set to vote on the agreement Tuesday.

The School Board would then need to approve it.

The agreement comes after the union’s increased public demonstrations.

The union has said it wants more than the 2% raise proposed by the district, but declined last week to disclose its counter proposal.

Last year, a one-year agreement was reached after the union authorized a strike.
