SEATTLE, Wash. — It’s been awhile since we’ve had high temperatures in Whatcom County, but the National Weather Service says that’s about to change.

For the last week of August, it seems our weather is making a final summery push with temperatures expected to be nearing the 80s closer to the water and temperatures closing in on the 90s in east county.

People sensitive to heat are urged to take precautions to avoid dehydration, heat exhaustion or heat stroke.

The Weather Service also emphasizes the increased risk to children or pets left in cars or outside.
