LONGVIEW, Wash. —Â Washington is one of 25 states awarded a grant from the CDC to combat maternal mortality.
The Daily News reports the state will receive $375,000 under legislation from Southwest Washington Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler, who says the country’s maternal death rate has reached a crisis level.
Beutler says the money will be used to support and provide critical resources to states in their efforts to make pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period safer for all women.
