SEATTLE, Wash. — Former Seattle tech worker Paige Thompson was indicted on federal charges for wire fraud and computer data theft.

U-S Attorney Brian Moran announced Thompson was indicted Wednesday on the charges related to her unauthorized intrusion into stored data of more than 30 different companies, including Capital One.

Thompson allegedly created scanning software that allowed her to identify customers of a cloud computing company who had misconfigured their firewalls, allowing outside commands to access their servers.

Thompson remains in custody until her arraignment on September 5 where she may face up to 25-years of prison time.
