OLYMPIA, Wash. — Half a million travelers are expected on Washington state ferries this weekend.
After Labor Day, the state Department of Transportation projects a sharp 20% drop in ridership.
Those driving on the ferry should plan for lengthy wait times.
Washington State Ferries expects most travelers to be sailing west now through Saturday, and then east Sunday through Tuesday as they return from their Labor Day getaways.
