BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A freight train hit and killed a man who was on the tracks at the crossing at Boulevard Park early Saturday.
BNSF spokesman Gus Melonas says the empty train was southbound from Canada when it hit the man at about 4:30 a.m.
The man’s identity hasn’t been released.
Melonas says this was the 12th person hit and killed while on BNSF tracks this year in Washington.
He warns everyone to be aware that trains can move in either direction at any time on railroad tracks.
