FERNDALE, Wash. — After passing a resolution condemning racism and Nazism, the Ferndale City Council has voted to admonish one of their own.
Ferndale Police Chief Kevin Turner filed an employee grievance against City Council member Keith Olson for using a religious slur.
In an exchange about a Ferndale police officer, Turner claimed Olson made a derogatory remark about Turner’s Mormon faith and a City Council investigation found that to be true.
At its Tuesday night meeting, the Council read an official letter of admonishment of member Olson into the record.
The Council also passed an amended version of its anti-racism resolution without a hidden message condemning Nazis that was included in the original that it passed last month.
