WASHINGTON, DC — Whatcom County is eligible for federal funds to help rural areas recover from damage from severe winter storms.
It’s part of $150-million in grants under the USDA’s Community Facilities Program.
The program was designed to help communities included in a FEMA major disaster declaration recover from the devastating effects of fires, hurricanes, and other natural disasters.
More than 100 types of projects are eligible for funding, and projects must be in rural areas with a population of 20,000 or less.
Grant applications will be accepted at USDA state offices until funds are exhausted.
