BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Bellingham alternative newspaper Cascadia Weekly is accused of stealing content.

Seattle’s The Stranger reports that IndieWire movie critic and editor Kate Erbland found via Google Alert that Cascadia Weekly had published her recent review of the film “Hustlers.”

Erbland says the review with her byline was used without compensation or her or IndieWire’s permission.

And she tells The Stranger that she found stolen reviews published by the paper over almost a decade.

Cascadia Weekly editor and publisher Tim Johnson gave KGMI the same statement it provided The Stranger, admitting his paper published reviews without permission.

He says “The responsibility for this rests with me, the publisher, and I apologize and am available to those authors for cure.”

He says the paper will publish a full statement in this week’s edition.
