FERNDALE, Wash. — The Phillips 66 Refinery has purchased 114 acres of farmland east of the refinery on Unick Road.

Company spokesman Tim Johnson tells KGMI it’s an addition to a land buffer the refinery has around its property.

The land is currently being farmed but Phillips 66 may eventually develop some of it into wetlands.

Johnson says that could be used to offset some future development at the refinery’s Cherry Point site.
