SEATTLE, Wash. — The state is continuing its effort to force a privately-run immigration jail to pay detainees for work they perform.
A U.S. District Judge said last month that he intended to dismiss the case and invited lawyers and the state Attorney General to comment on a proposed order he planned to file.
Upon reviewing those further arguments, the judge said Wednesday he won’t issue the dismissal order and the case can continue.
The Trump administration urged the judge to dismiss the lawsuit, calling it “an aggressive and legally unjustified effort by the state of Washington to interfere with federal immigration enforcement.”
