ENUMCLAW, Wash. (AP) — A dangerous convicted rapist who had been on the loose for days has been arrested.

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department says 41-year-old Ronald Clayton was tracked down and arrested Thursday morning in Enumclaw.

He was released with a GPS tracker on Saturday and he said he was going to a homeless shelter in Tacoma.

He never showed up there and cut off his ankle bracelet, prompting a days-long search.

Clayton had been convicted of the brutal rape of a Tacoma woman when he was 16, and was just released from prison after serving a sentence for failing to register as a Level III Sex Offender.
