BELLINGHAM. Wash. – Visitors to Squalicum Harbor will see a sailboat aground on the rocks for a while.

Squalicum Harbormaster Kyle Randolph says the boat became unanchored in Fairhaven and drifted across the bay, landing on the harbor’s rocky bulkhead.

The Coast Guard has inspected the boat and found no threat to the environment.

Randolph says the owner has been contacted but hasn’t cooperated so the harbor will likely take possession of the boat and have it removed after 30 days.

A Department of Natural Resources program will reimburse the harbor for the cost of removing the boat.
