SUMAS, Wash. — You may see several active emergency responders at the border Wednesday, but don’t worry, it’s just a drill.
A major joint US/Canadian Hazardous Materials Drill is happening at the Sumas/Huntington port of entry from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office says the drill is a step forward in building relationships and understanding procedures between US and Canadian responders.
People may see simulated response activity and some light smoke, but border traffic should not be affected.
