BLAINE, Wash. — The Port of Bellingham is recognizing Blaine’s rich canning history with a mural on its newest building in Blaine.

A replica of a can label from Blaine’s original cannery will be placed on the building that’s under construction near Milhollin Drive.

The replicated label is from Fraser River salmon canned by Martin & Tarte in the early 1880’s.

According to The Northern Light, the mural will be installed in early November when the building is completed.

The artwork should be visible from the downtown plazas.
