BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A father and son believed to have ties to the Ku Klux Klan are in Whatcom County Jail under suspicion of stealing a mini excavator.
Blaine Police say David Ronny Cater and his son David Martin Cater were denied entry to Canada through the Blaine border crossing Sunday due to their ties to the KKK and a possible criminal history.
When officers responded they found the men to be in possession of a mini excavator stolen from Arkansas worth about $60,000.
The son was arrested Sunday, but the father suffered a medical episode in US Customs and was taken to the hospital.
He was booked into jail Wednesday.
