ANACORTES, Wash. — The Anacortes City Council is considering asking voters to approve a sales tax increase to pay for affordable house development.

Anacortes City Finance Director Steve Hoglund told the Skagit Valley Herald that a combination of state sales tax revenue and a local sales tax could give the city about $653,000 a year for affordable housing.

The Council has until December 13th to pass a resolution and file the measure with Skagit County for the February ballot.
