BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A Bellingham woman convicted of attacking her son with a meat cleaver in August was sentenced to 18-months in prison earlier this month.

Kathrine Frances Barnett pled guilty to second degree assault and was sentenced on the 10th.

Court documents show Barnett had been arguing with her son when he turned his back and she hit him with the meat cleaver.

Responding officers say Barnett appeared heavily intoxicated and she told them she couldn’t remember attacking her son.

The victim was taken to the hospital and Barnett was arrested.
