OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — Whatcom County joined just four other counties in approving Referendum 88, which would amend state laws banning affirmative action in state hiring and education.
It’s still being rejected by nearly 52 percent of the state’s voters following the latest count.
There are almost 300,000 ballots left to count in King County, where the measure is passing by more than 20 points.
