SEATTLE, Wash. (AP) — Amazon spent $1.5 million in an effort to overhaul the Seattle City Council, but it didn’t deliver.
Many votes remain to be counted, but early returns suggest the e-commerce giant will have fewer allies on the Council than at any time in recent history.
The council may see more officials who are willing to tax companies to address Seattle’s homelessness crisis and transportation problems.
Amazon nemesis and socialist incumbent Kshama Sawant is still about 8 points behind her challenger, business friendly Egan Orion.
