BLAINE, Wash. — Water quality in Drayton Harbor has improved, bringing excellent news to shellfish lovers.

The state Department of Health has approved 765 acres of beach for commercial shellfish harvesting after they determined that marine water quality and shoreline conditions meet necessary standards.

State health official Scott Berbells says “data shows that pollution prevention actions are working and the community can be proud of their accomplishments.”

The public is invited to celebrate healthy waters and fresh harvest during the 4th Annual Shellebration event, being held at H Street Plaza in Blaine on Friday, December 13 from 4-6 PM.
