SEATTLE, Wash. — A King County Superior Court judge ruled Friday Value Village has deceived consumers into believing the company is a non-profit or charity and that purchases benefit charities.

The judge also ruled that Value Village knew or should have known that its advertising was deceptive.

Value Village is a for-profit company that brings in about $1-billion in revenue annually.

Friday’s ruling only addresses whether Value Village broke the law.

The court will determine the amount of penalties Value Village will face at a separate hearing next spring.
