MOUNT VERNON, Wash. — A 17-year-old Skagit County girl will spend up to 36-weeks in juvenile detention after causing a car crash in April that killed a Sedro-Woolley man and injured his passengers.

The Skagit Valley Herald reports the girl, who has not been named since she was not charged as an adult, pled guilty to a DUI vehicular homicide in the death of 31-year-old Riley Conard and vehicular assault.

A Snohomish County judge sentenced the girl to between 15 and 36 weeks in juvenile detention Tuesday.

She turns 18 next month and this was the maximum sentence she could receive.

Her case was moved to Snohomish since one of her parents is in Skagit County law enforcement.

Conard was driving with his wife and two young sons when the girl, who was high, hit their truck.
