BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Whatcom Community College has received a grant to support a new afterschool program for students interested in community health.

The Health Professions Affinity Community will introduce Ferndale, Nooksack Valley, and Mount Baker Senior High School students to health-related careers as they tackle community issues like substance abuse, food insecurity, and mental health.

Students will also create projects to bring awareness and change to those issues.

Students interested in joining may contact Emily Schneider at eschneider@whatcom.edu or by phone at 360.383.3187.
