BLAINE, Wash. — A woman and her dog are dead after troopers say she hit a cement barrier on I-5 Thursday morning.
State Patrol Trooper Heather Axtman tells KGMI that it appears the driver, who has not been identified, merged from the left lane into the right lane near the S curves near the D Street exit before she lost control and left the roadway, striking the barrier.
She was pronounced dead at the scene and troopers also found a dog deceased in her vehicle.
The accident temporarily closed all lanes of I-5 and the D Street on-ramp, which re-opened at about 10:30am.
