MOUNT VERNON, Wash. — The Skagit County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of a new scam showing up in mailboxes.
The scam is a notice that claims to be from the Skagit County “Tax Processing Unit” but is actually sent from California.
It states that personal property will be seized if the amount listed on the notice isn’t paid.
The Sheriff says anyone receiving any such notice should not call any phone numbers listed.
If you are expecting a tax notice, call that agency directly; otherwise, ignore the notice.
