BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A recount is in order for two Whatcom County general election races, but they might not be the ones you think.
The Whatcom County Canvassing Board has directed the election staff at the Auditor’s Office to begin a hand recount of the races for seats on the Sumas City Council and Ferndale City Council.
The recounts are open public meetings and anyone interested is welcome to attend them in the county Auditor’s Election Center in the basement of the Whatcom County Courthouse.
If there is still a tie, the outcome will be determined by a coin toss.
The other Whatcom County Election results were certified Tuesday.
