ANACORTES, Wash. — The City of Anacortes has reached an agreement with an environmental organization to settle a lawsuit concerning stormwater.

The lawsuit filed in December 2018 by the Puget Soundkeeper Alliance alleged the city violated the Clean Water Act by failing to control polluted stormwater runoff.

The Skagit Valley Herald reports that the city of Anacortes will improve its stormwater program and pay $73,000 to cover Puget Soundkeeper’s legal fees.

The city was one of 170 entities that the organization filed lawsuits against.
