OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — State Representative Matt Shea is suspended from the House Republican Caucus and is advised to resign after a report finds the Spokane Republican engaged in domestic terrorism.
The independent investigation launched by the House found Shea took part in “domestic terrorism” against the United States during a 2016 standoff at a wildlife refuge in Oregon and promoted two other armed standoffs outside of Washington.
It also found he helped train young people to fight a “holy war,” condoned intimidating opponents and promoted militia training by the Patriot Movement for possible armed conflict with law enforcement.
Shea responded in a statement, saying “Like we are seeing with our president this is a sham investigation.”
He says he won’t resign.
