AMBOY, Wash. — Want to see an iconic Washington volcano other than Mount Rainier on your license plate?

A petition drive is now underway to honor the state’s most active volcano, Mount St. Helens.

The Mount St. Helens Institute needs signatures from 4,000 Washington state residents for the Department of Licensing to consider the new plate.

Proceeds from sales of the plates would go to the institute, which promotes youth education, land stewardship, and science at the volcano.
