MILLTOWN, Wash. — A good Samaritan helped rescue three duck hunters stranded on mud flats near the Skagit River entrance near Milltown after their boat capsized Sunday.

The Coast Guard says the good Samaritan was in the area and picked up one of the three hunters and took him to a nearby marina to call 911.

Crews from Coast Guard Air Station Port Angeles found the two other men in knee-deep water trying to wade back to shore and airlifted them to waiting EMS crews.

The three men are in healthy condition.

The rescue pilot says the hunters’ stayed with their boat, got out of the water as best as they could and used life jackets, all of which helped them avoid hypothermia and made it easier for the crew to find them.
