Don’t be alarmed if you hear a loud roar near downtown Bellingham Tuesday night, January 21, 2020.
Dispatch Supervisor at What-Comm Emergency Communications Justin Rasmussen tells KGMI that Cascade Natural Gas will be conducting a controlled release of nitrogen from their system Tuesday between 9 and 9:30pm, which will produce a load roar similar to that of a jet plane taking off.
He says the noise is expected to last for about half an hour, with the first ten minutes being the loudest.
A release involving natural gas is scheduled for Wednesday, January 22, which will result in an odor throughout Bellingham that could linger for hours.
The time for Wednesday’s release has not been confirmed.
CNG says there are no public health risks from either release.
