BLAINE, Wash. — The Blaine School District is considering an update to their policy on gender inclusivity.
The Northern Light reports the district’s board of directors held a special meeting on January 13 to discuss the update, which they hope to officially approve by the end of the month.
The policy will allow them to keep records of students’ preferred pronouns, provide students access to an alternative restroom if requested, allow students to keep their gender status private, and designate a staff member to be the primary contact regarding policy and procedure relating to transgender or gender expansive students.
