OLYMPIA, Wash. — State health officials suspended the license of a Whatcom County mental health counselor.

The Health Department says Alana Ruth Karsch failed to maintain appropriate boundaries with her clients, and falsified records when she was being investigated.

Court documents say Karsch talked inappropriately with two clients using pet names and communicating in a romantic, seductive, or sexual way.

Karsch was also accused of exchanging personal information and participating in a mutual fantasy with a client about becoming pregnant and giving birth to the client’s child.

She cannot practice as a mental health counselor in Washington until the charges are resolved.
