LYNDEN, Wash. — A veteran from Lynden is getting the experience of a lifetime.

Sergeant Michael Spidell served three tours of duty in the US Army — two in Iraq and one in Korea.

His military career was cut short due to injuries he suffered when an IED hit his Humvee.

The United Heroes League and the NHL Player’s Association selected Spidell as an All-Star Hero in recognition of his service, sending him and his son to St. Louis for the 2020 NHL All-Star Weekend.

Sergeant Spidell, who is originally from St. Louis, is a longtime Blues fan and former hockey player himself.
