BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A couple safety improvement projects are coming to West Bakerview Road this summer.

To ease traffic volume and reduce collisions crews will first reconstruct sidewalks, curb ramps, crosswalks and bike lanes at the intersection of Northwest Drive.

They’ll also install a raised median that’ll stretch along the center of West Bakerview from Arctic Avenue east past Northwest Drive.

It will restrict left turns out of Fred Meyer and restrict entrances to multiple businesses’ parking lots in the area.

Work starts this summer and is part of Bellingham’s 2020-25 Transportation Improvement Program.
