BLAINE, Wash. — Plans to develop an alleyway in Blaine are in the works.
The City of Blaine plans to develop the alley located below and to the west of Peace Portal Drive, roughly parallel to the BNSF railroad tracks.
According to the Northern Light, the city hopes to encourage mixed uses in the area to bring in more sales tax and other revenue by building a road on the lower level of the Peace Portal corridor between F and H streets.
The new road would be funded entirely by the city of Blaine using revenue from the city’s Transportation Benefit District.
Public Works Director Ravyn Whitewolf estimated that the road could be completed by the end of 2020.
