MOUNT VERNON, Wash. — Residents in the east part of the county are being asked to cut down on wood-burning.
The clear, cold weather we’ve been experiencing has prompted the Northwest Clean Air Agency to ask people in Whatcom County’s Columbia Valley urban growth area to limit burning wood for home heating for the next few days if possible.
That includes those in the Peaceful Valley and Paradise Lakes developments.
Limiting wood-burning will help the community avoid smoke buildup and a possible burn ban.
