FERNDALE, Wash. — A group supporting a school levy in Ferndale is apologizing after a post on its Facebook page outraged members of the Lummi Nation and others.

The post, which has been taken down, stated the levy would provide “opportunities for Lummi Students to receive the supports needed to become productive members of society.”

The group Support Ferndale Levy says in a statement a member of the campaign posted the message it calls racist and hurtful.

It has accepted the resignation of the person who posted the message.

Support Ferndale Levy is made up of volunteers and is not connected to the Ferndale School Distinct.

Ferndale Schools are asking voters to ok a revamped operations levy after they rejected one in February.
