BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Meridian Schools are closed Tuesday and Wednesday while district activities are canceled due to coronavirus concerns.
Superintendent Dr. James Everett says a middle school staff member informed him Monday they’d been exposed to COVID-19 by someone with the illness outside Whatcom County on February 29.
This staff member is now displaying cold symptoms.
Everett says the person has been at school every day since the exposure and had contact with various buildings, staff and students.
The closure will allow for deep cleaning of all buildings and buses.
School is set to resume Thursday.
