BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Professional organizations and others are standing up for the PeaceHealth ER doctor who was fired after criticizing COVID-19 protocol at Bellingham’s hospital.
PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center terminated Dr. Ming Lin on Friday after he repeatedly criticized the hospital for what he said was a lack of PPE for personnel and proper preparedness for dealing with patients who may have coronavirus-related illness.
The Washington State Nurses Association, American College of Emergency Physicians and the American Academy of Emergency Medicine are among the organizations that have released statements supporting him and calling for his re-instatement.
Dr. Lin thanks his supporters in a post on his Facebook and asks that there be no petitions or protests of his firing.
He worries that would distract from care for patients at the hospital.
In an interview with KGMI last week, St. Joseph Executive Director Charles Prosper defended the hospital’s preparedness and protocol in dealing with COVID-19.
