EVERSON, Wash. — Whatcom County companies are working together to produce emergency beds in anticipation of a surge in demand due to COVID-19.

Christensen Net Works of Everson and Northwest Professional Services of Lynden along with volunteers from the community are teaming up to produce low-cost beds for potential use by emergency services, local government, and healthcare facilities.

The beds consist of vinyl sheeting and bed frames made from steel fencing material that can be rapidly and cheaply sourced, using skills available within their workforce in their routine manufacturing.

Dr. Ming Lin, until recently an emergency department physician at PeaceHealth hospital in Bellingham, will help monitor the effort.
