BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Whatcom County has received almost a million dollars in grant money from the state to help the homeless during the outbreak.

It’s part of $30 million in grant money given to the counties by the Commerce Department to rent hotel rooms and other facilities for the homeless.

Anne Deacon with the county Health Department says they’re already accommodating more people by moving the Lighthouse Mission emergency shelter to Bellingham High School.

Anyone who can help with facilities or equipment is encouraged to contact the Whatcom County Health Department.
