BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Local community health centers wiill receive a share of federal funding from the CARES Act to support their fight against COVID-19.

Seattle-based Sea-Mar Community Health Center, with local clinics in Bellingham, Everson and Mount Vernon, will receive $4.8 million in funding.

Unity Care Northwest in Bellingham will receive over $875,000.

The funding will help the organizations meet staffing needs, test and treat patients with COVID-19, and supply healthcare workers with much-needed personal protective equipment.

Washington’s 27 CHCs will share $36 million of the over $1.3 billion in supplemental awards for community health centers nationwide.
