BELLINGHAM, Wash. — More Bellingham high school students are pitching in to make sure local health care workers have the equipment they need to stay safe.
Sisters Ana and Mimi Swetish are students at Sehome High School who saw the need for face shields and came up with a plan to make them.
They shared ideas with local health care workers to come up with a design, and started producing them out of mylar, velcro and foam in their father’s workshop.
They’ve produced and distributed 500 so far and plan to churn out thousands more.
Fellow Sehome student Jonas Ecker has been managing their crowdfunding, which has nearly doubled their $3000 goal.
They plan to donate any money that’s left over to the Bellingham Food Bank.
