BELLINGHAM, Wash. — PeaceHealth says they still have room for patients who need treatment.

At a Bellingham City Council meeting Monday, PeaceHealth Northwest Chief Executive Charles Prosper said the hospital hasn’t yet seen a surge of COVID-19 cases large enough to strain their resources.

He said so far they have provided care to 36 patients who tested positive for the illness and, right now, the hospital is only using about 50% of their beds.

The hospital has capacity to treat 251 inpatients, and Prosper says, if needed, they can convert outpatient beds to increase that by 50 or 60.
