BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The Bellingham City Council unanimously approved a resolution Monday night that calls on federal and state governments to enact immediate rent and mortgage payment relief.
The resolution calls for an extension of the eviction moratorium and the suspension of rent and mortgage payments.
It also calls for a grant-based rent relief program to provide longer-term relief.
The Council is also urging assistance for undocumented individuals and adult college students who are not eligible for cash or rental assistance because they are claimed as dependants on their parent’s tax returns.
